Het belangrijkste initiatief dat door KeniaHealth wordt ondersteund is Mercal Healthcare.
Mercal Healthcare Services richt zich op de gezondheidszorg in Kenia en is opgericht in 2016.
Het doel is om:
- In 10 tot 15 jaar één of meerdere klinieken in provinciesteden op te richten
- Een ziekenhuis met 300 bedden te bouwen in het regionale centrum Kitale
- Om ambulancediensten aan te bieden
- Mortuaria operationeel te hebben
Resultaten:
De eerste stap is gezet met de opening in oktober 2016 van de Mercal Clinic and Diagnostic Center in Kitale. Kitale is een stad van bijna 80.000 inwoners en ligt in het westen van Kenia, op ongeveer een dag reizen (380 kilometer) van de hoofdstad Nairobi. Het is de hoofdstad van Trans Nzoia County en handel en landbouw zorgt voor redelijke welvaart in het gebied.
Om de doelen van Mercal Healthcare te kunnen realiseren zijn geld, apparatuur en investeringen nodig. Met hulp van een ondersteunende Nederlandse stichting, kunnen deze doelen dichterbij komen.

- Establish one or more clinics in provincial towns in the upcoming 10 to 15 years
- Build a hospital with 300 beds in the regional centre of Kitale
- Provide ambulance services
- Operational morgues
Results:
The first step was taken with the opening in October 2016 of the Mercal Clinic and Diagnostic Center in Kitale. Kitale is a city of almost 80.000 inhabitants and is located in western Kenya. It’s about a day’s travel from the capital Nairobi (236 miles). It is the capital of Trans Nzoia County. Trade and agriculture bring reasonable prosperity to the area.
In order to realize the goals of Mercal Healthcare equipment, money and investments are needed. With the help of a supportin Dutch foundation these goals can come closer.
